Christmas morning Gibson got up about 7:30 am and came to our room and said “I don’t think Santa came because I didn’t hear him”. Gregg told him that he heard him last night and that we should go downstairs and check! So, we got things together, got the little boys up (they were still sleeping!) and we headed downstairs. Gibson and Grady immediately found their Santa presents. Santa doesn’t wrap at our house, so the kids immediately saw what they got. Both of them LOVED their presents. Grady got a garage and Gibson got some walkie talkies.
We shifted the kids focus to their stockings. When I was a kid, we always did our stockings first. The older boys each got some socks, a toothbrush, a comb, one small toy and some tootsie rolls. I think the boys would have been ok with just a stocking….they thought that was fun. I didn’t get a stocking for Garrison in time, this year, but he has one now! Gregg and I had some chocolate in our stockings.
Back to presents under the tree! The boys each got 2 presents from us. Gibson got some Star Wars Legos and Grady got a book and some dinosaurs. The kids also opened some presents that my friend, Bridget, sent from California. They got some little toys and each a fun shirt. Grady’s is my favorite, it says “My Mommy has Super Powers”. We also had some books from another friend! The kids made out like bandits this year. It was so fun to watch them open presents, Gibson really got the whole present thing this year. He also go the reason for Christmas and talked a lot about us celebrating Jesus’ birthday.
Putting together the legos. Gregg spent about 2 hours on that task. He won the Daddy Award for the day, for sure!
We got the kids a DVD of an aquarium. It’s called a “living aquarium”. The kids were mesmerized by the scenes.

Gregg & I and Christmas presents
Gregg and I decided to open our Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve. We had a nice time, just the two of us, opening gifts. I got Gregg some Silvertips garb and then some fly fishing stuff. He was so very excited about it! I am more a a “giver” and enjoy giving more than receiving and so, I never know what to ask for when it comes to gifts. This year, I decided to ask Gregg for something very practical. An external hard drive. I desperately need for my computer as I have maxed it out with pictures (!). So, that is what Gregg got me. Then, he surprised me and also got me a gift certificate for a pedicure. Nice!
Milk & Cookies for Santa
The boys were very excited this year about leaving milk and cookies out for Santa. When Gibson got up Christmas morning, he came into our room and said “I don’t think Santa came to our house” and Gregg asked him why he thought that, and Gibson said that he didn’t hear him. Gregg told him that he thought he did hear him and that he should go down and check the plate of cookies and see if he had any presents….
Of course, there WERE presents and the milk was gone and the cookies were half eaten. Gibson then decided he was just too tired to have heard Santa during his visit.
Christmas Eve
We celebrated on Christmas Eve with Aunt Wanda & Uncle Steve, here at our house. They came over with Thai food from a local place here and we ate “the best dinner ever” according to Gibson and then we exchanged gifts. Gibson could hardly contain the excitement of the presents.
I put Garrison’s present on his tray and I pulled a little corner to “get him started” and then let him unwrap it. It took him the entire time the other boys opened their presents, but he did it all by himself. You’ll see, there are pictures littered throughout the present opening.
Gibson begging to open presents. Gregg is asking him questions and the first question he can answer correctly, he can open his present. It was Gregg’s way of trying to calm him down.
here we go…
Gibson’s vest
Grady’s turn
Garrison still working at it…
getting closer…
almost there…
YAY! He did it!
More presents for the older boys.
Finally, the grown-ups can open gifts!

a hat that I *bought* for Aunt Wanda.
Opening and playing with all the goods! The kids LOVE the Mouse Trap game.
